Megan teaches Vagonova-based classical ballet with a modern approach, incorporating kinesiology, anatomy, and developmental psychology to meet the needs of students of all ages and skill levels. With a deep-rooted love for movement and music, Megan works diligently to preserve the beauty and integrity of classical ballet while making it fun, approachable, and relevant for young dancers. She provides technical training to help take their dancing to the professional level, but will serve them in life outside the studio.
Megan began sharing her passion for movement as an instructor in 2005, and became a certified Leap ‘N Learn teacher in 2010. Megan currently serves as a full time Dance Department faculty member at Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School and teaches every Monday evening at Rock City Dance Center.
Over the years, Megan has directed, choreographed, and produced full-length youth ballets and musicals. Her students have been accepted to celebrated dance programs including Joffrey Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Austin, Texas Ballet Theatre, AMDA in Los Angeles and New York, Studio School in Los Angeles, Broadway Theatre Project, Texas State, Ryder University, and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
She began her dance training in Little Rock, AR, and attended prestigious summer ballet programs throughout her youth before studying Dance Performance at Southern Methodist University. She went on to perform and choreograph both classical and contemporary works with regional companies scattered throughout Texas, including the aerial dance company Blue Lapis Light’s “Requim” which was seen by over 14,000 people and became a cultural highlight in Austin.
