As a native of the Natural State, I have been spoiled rotten with some of the most beautiful scenery in the US. In comparison, Dallas is a concrete jungle. I don’t care how lovely Katy Trail and White Rock Lake are – it is not the same. After a week of being homesick for a large body of water (that’s relatively safe to swim in), we did a little internet research and discovered Lake Lewisville about 45 minutes from Dallas. While it’s got nothin’ on Arkansas lakes, it was nice to be on the water for an afternoon. Another fun point was stopping in Grapevine, TX along the way for breakfast. Turns out they’ve got more than the airport!
